New StorControl™ Version 1.2 from Intransa Offers Increased Capacity and Scalability, and Snapshots
Intransa’s IP SAN Now Scales to 24 Terabytes — “Super Nova Initiative” IP SAN to double capacity every six months

Intransa, a leader in intelligent information storage, delivery, and management over IP, today announced the introduction of StorControl Version 1.2, the latest version.
“The release of Version 1.2 with Increased scalability, Raid 0/1 and 1/0, StorControl Snapshot, and iSNS support is significant, allowing our customers the best, easiest and most cost effective way to protect and manage their data,” said Paul Zuhorski, Director, Product Management for Intransa. “Intransa continues to deliver value to our customers by offering new features and software upgrades to all existing Intransa IP SANs.”
- StorControl now supports up to 4 Storage Controllers and 6 Disk Enclosures in a single IP SAN. That is enough for 360 MB/sec in performance and 24TB in capacity.
- Additional levels of RAID support allow more types of protection to match with data type.
- iSNS support provides automated discovery, management, and configuration of iSCSI Intransa devices.
- Optional StorControl Snapshot allows the creation of 100’s of point in time images of an application for backup or testing. Snapshots can also be rematched to their original version after modification from testing, for example.
- Optional hardware provider agent for Microsoft Windows 2003 Volume Storage Service.
Intransa’s IP SAN introduces a sophisticated architecture and management software that enables customers to easily add storage capacity from 2 to 24 terabytes (TB) and consolidate high volume e-mail and collaborative environments such as Microsoft Exchange, databases, backup and restore applications and other mission-critical data management and disaster recovery applications. The IP SAN provides IT administrators an attractive alternative to expensive Fibre Channel components since the Intransa IP SAN leverages network infrastructures that already exist in the data center. The Intransa IP SAN also provides excellent data management and reliability.
Availability
New StorControl 1.2 began shipping in February 2004. The new Version 1.2 release is backward compatible with all Intransa IP SAN products. StorControl Snapshot is also available from all Intransa partners.
