Leading Chinese Internet Television Provider Tunes into Intransa to Provide IP-SAN Infrastructure For Cutting-Edge IPTV Project

Customer Success Underscores Intransa’s Enterprise Value in Growing Chinese Market as More Companies Choose IP SANs Over Costly Fibre Channel

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jan. 25, 2005

Intransa, the global leader in enterprise IP SAN storage systems, announced today that Tianjin Blue Sword, one of China’s leading network television companies, has chosen Intransa to provide the enterprise IP storage area networking infrastructure for its leading-edge initiatives. They will use the system to deliver television via the Internet through IP-based video-on-demand and Internet Protocol television programming (IPTV) in Asia. Blue Sword has purchased Intransa’s IP SAN solution to begin its transition away from a traditional Fibre Channel SAN to a next-generation enterprise IP SAN system to handle storage for all its IPTV and video-on-demand content delivery.

“Intransa’s IP SAN will help us to deploy our network TV platform in China more quickly and cost-effectively than our former Fibre Channel SAN,” said Haiying Peng, president of Tianjin Blue Sword. “Our initial investment in the Intransa solution has allowed us to test the value of Intransa’s IP SAN approach and to gain a faster, more flexible, and manageable infrastructure. The IP SAN supports the demands of our streaming video-on-demand IPTV application at 20 of our substations at a reduced cost over our previous FC-SAN.”

Intransa leads the IP SAN market with the industry’s most comprehensive suite of IP SAN solutions to meet the distinct needs of small, mid-tier, and enterprise-class customers. The Intransa IP storage offering is based on the company’s IP SAN IntraStor™ architecture — a three-tiered architecture that allows for independent capacity and performance scaling — and Intransa’s patented StorControl™ management software. Using Intransa’s StorControl™ software, IT administrators can easily add an additional storage controller or disk enclosure on the fly — without disrupting performance or system availability.

“The Chinese economy is becoming increasingly visible to the rest of the world. Where advancements in the availability and management of data are valued and sought after and Intransa has an edge over legacy direct-attached storage and contemporary Fibre Channel SANs,” said Udi Paret, Vice-President of Asia Pacific Rim Operations, Intransa. “We are seeing an acceleration of adoption in the fast growing Asian markets for the flexibility, simplicity and manageability of Intransa’s IP-based SAN. Now, IT administrators without specialized SAN training are able to install and maintain IP-based SANs, using technology and equipment that’s familiar and readily available, including Cat 5 Ethernet and iSCSI. Intransa’s entire suites of IP SAN solutions allow administrators to perform capacity and performance upgrades without any disruption in performance or availability of the underlying storage.”

“Intransa is rapidly expanding globally where China is a pillar in our strategy” added Dr. Avi Katz, President and CEO, Intransa. “We have established a strong foundation and are committed to further invest in the Chinese economy and society”.
