Storage Industry Luminary Doug Rainbolt Joins Intransa As Vice President, Marketing
Veteran high-tech industry executive to lead Intransa’s aggressive integrated marketing efforts worldwide
SAN JOSE, Calif. — April 12, 2005
Intransa, Inc., the first company to deliver the most flexible storage network for mid-tier organizations and large enterprises, today announced the appointment of storage industry veteran Doug Rainbolt as vice president of marketing. Rainbolt, a former McDATA executive, was most recently vice president and general manager, Brocade Systems. Reporting directly to Intransa president and CEO, Dr. Avi Katz, he will have overall responsibility for the company’s integrated marketing strategies and tactics worldwide.
Doug brings to Intransa more than 24 years of sales, product marketing and general management experience in the electronics and storage industries. He has held executive positions with Tektronix, Brocade, McDATA and Exabyte. At McDATA, Doug was responsible for developing and executing strategies for McDATA's fabric switch business and developing go-to-market plans for small to mid-size markets. Prior to that, he spent 17 years with Tektronix and three years with Exabyte Corporation. Most recently, Doug served as vice president and general manager, transport systems, at Brocade. Under his strong leadership, Brocade’s Layer II hardware grew substantially, across all segments, and represented the majority of Brocade’s revenue.
“Doug is ideal as Intransa’s worldwide marketing head,” said Dr. Katz. “His wide knowledge of the storage industry, deep storage product marketing experience and clear understanding of end-customer requirements will greatly enhance our position to deliver cutting edge storage grid solutions to a broad customer base across geographies and market verticals,” he added.
Intransa leads the IP SAN market with the industry’s most comprehensive suite of IP SAN solutions to meet the distinct needs of small, mid-tier, and enterprise-class customers. The Intransa IP storage offering is based on the company’s IP SAN IntraStor® architecture – a three-tiered architecture that allows for independent capacity and performance scaling – and Intransa’s patented StorControl® management software. Using Intransa’s StorControl software, IT administrators can easily add an additional storage controller or disk enclosure on the fly – without disrupting performance or system availability.
“Intransa’s unique storage grid solutions deliver tremendous value to companies seeking to implement data compliance and information management best practices while reducing overall storage costs,” said Rainbolt. “I look forward to an exciting time ahead with Intransa.”
