Intransa Announces Support of the Microsoft® Windows Server Simple SAN Program

SAN JOSE, Calif. — May 17, 2005

Intransa, the global leader in IP SAN solutions, announced today its intention to participate in the Microsoft Windows Server Simple SAN Program. Provided with a network-centric view of their IP SAN, Intransa customers can manage their storage as pools of iSCSI resources that can be easily provisioned, simplifying their SAN deployments. Intransa has a long history of developing products based on Microsoft Storage technologies which started during the initial Windows® iSCSI software initiator development efforts.

Microsoft is working with its storage partners to help drive the development of simple SAN solutions for Windows Server 2003 users which has built-in support for SANs. By reducing the setup complexity of individual SAN components, the potential for incorrectly configuring the SAN is reduced. With the Windows Server Simple SAN Program, Microsoft provides a vehicle to channel SAN hardware solutions that are simple and easily deployed.

“We are pleased to be working with Intransa to integrate its storage offering within the guidelines of the Windows Server Simple SAN program,” said Dr. Claude Lorenson, senior product manager in the Windows Server Division at Microsoft. “As a result, our customers will benefit from improved storage solutions that can be quickly and robustly scaled, eliminating the need for multiple islands of storage and simplifying the SAN.”

The first in the industry to leverage storage clustering technology, Intransa's IntraStor product family offers a highly scalable and survivable IP SAN solution and the flexibility to provide highly affordable tiered storage with pay-as-you-grow scalability, a perfect solution for small- to medium-size businesses. Its management application, StorControl, provides the ideal environment to simplify local and remote site data management. IntraStor provides all of the features and functionality of a traditional SAN at a fraction of the cost and complexity while leveraging existing IP and Ethernet infrastructure. In combination with Windows Server 2003 the Intransa IP SAN solution provides a cost effective, easy to install and use, storage network.

“We are pleased to participate with Microsoft in the effort to simplify SANs and make IP-based storage a viable solution for small to medium businesses,” stated Doug Rainbolt, vice president of marketing for Intransa. “We are committed to delivering to customers the most comprehensive, affordable, and easy-to-use suite of IP-SAN solutions that will meet the needs of small, mid-tier, and enterprise-class customers alike.”
