Intransa Leaps into 2006, Capitalizes on 2005 Momentum in Expanding IP SAN Market
Intransa’s Leading IP Technology, Increased Product Offerings and Partnerships Lead to Rapid Customer Adoption
SAN JOSE, California — January 04, 2006
Intransa, the global innovator of network-centric, IP storage solutions today announced strong, accelerated adoption of Intransa IP systems and terabytes shipped in 2005. Intransa’s 2005 net revenues grew 100 percent year-over-year from 2004, with more than 1.2 petabytes shipped to customers worldwide.
According to recent analyst reports the iSCSI market hit $80 million in 2005 and is expected to triple in 2006 with more than 42 percent of small and medium customers anticipated to implement an iSCSI SAN by mid-2006. Simplicity, low cost of deployment and the ability to run a storage network on an existing IP infrastructure has led to the growth of the iSCSI market and a banner 2005 for Intransa – its most successful, as it closes out its third complete year of shipping IP SAN solutions.
“Our strong performance in 2005 is due to rapid customer adoption and a robust business model which we implemented through strategic partnerships and product expansion worldwide,” stated Thomas Alexander, CEO of Intransa. “All of this has reinforced our focus on driving growth while we bring better storage utilization and data protection to the masses. And, in 2006, customers can expect to see more partnerships and more exciting products, including new applications designed to simplify management and extend the value of IP SANs.”
Intransa’s 2005 success, and position on Red Herring’s Top 100 list of Hottest Private Companies, is attributed to its relentless focus on the customer, partnerships, superior technology and continuous innovation, including the following achievements:
Focus on the Customer through Partnerships:
- In a co-development agreement with one of China’s fastest growing networking equipment providers Intransa expanded its reach into the Asian market by securing an agreement with network giant Huawei-3Com (H3C). This broadens Intransa’s available market in Asia, but also enables the company to leverage design and quality assurance resource in co-development activities focused on bringing innovative solutions to market, world-wide.
- Intransa’s IP SAN products were qualified and certified as IBM TotalStorage Proven.
- The company announced support of Microsoft Windows Simple SAN program.
- Intransa expanded its reach across the world by signing multiple United States, Asian and European strategic distribution agreements.
Superior Technology:
- Intransa’s unique and innovative IP software technology, StorControl, has been licensed to partners to power their IP SAN solutions in addition to continuing to power all Intransa SANs shipped. The number of brands incorporating StorControl technology is expected to increase throughout 2006.
- Intransa’s simple network-centric architecture - that separates controllers from back-end disk enclosures, enabling ultimate flexibility, high performance, and “discrete scalability”- continues to resonate with customers and partners and due to its uniqueness Intransa was listed as a vendor to watch by InfoWorld.
- Intransa continues to demonstrate superior innovation and has provided a showcase into future 10GbE technology at SNW; and in cooperation with premier scientific High Performance Computing customer Sandia Laboratories, at SuperComputing; and by demonstrating StorControl execution on a blade server platform.
Continuous Innovation:
- Intransa becomes the only IP SAN provider to offer a full family of products, from an iSCSI SAN solution for the “S” in the SMB market, with the addition of the IP2000 RAID 5 solution; to a highly scalable, high performance architecture designed for mid-size and enterprise applications, all leveraging Intransa StorControl software.
Intransa’s addition of the Value-Line to its product portfolio, software partnerships and key distribution agreements unleashes the use of intelligent IP technology and addresses the growing demand for iSCSI SANs across the globe. Since its founding in 2000, Intransa has been at the forefront of industry innovation through the development of pure-IP based SAN solutions. Intransa’s network centric IP family of hardware and software is installed in multiple industries, including large enterprise and small and mid-sized companies in healthcare, manufacturing as well as leading universities and government institutions.
