Intransa Appoints George Wu Greater China Country Manager
Appointment to Build on Aggressive Asia Pacific Growth
SAN JOSE, California — June 11, 2007
Bud Broomhead, CEO of Intransa, the global innovator of network-centric IP storage solutions, today announced that technology luminary George Wu has joined the innovative IP storage vendor. In his new role at Intransa, Wu will serve as the company's country manager for Greater China. Wu replaces Liu Xiang, who is stepping up to serve on the Intransa Advisory Board.
Wu is a standing member of the Information Storage Professional Committee, China Computer Federation, and was previously the Storage Networking World (SNW) China senior consultant and host of the Summit Forum at SNW China 2006, held in Beijing. He most recently served as country manager and chief representative of Adaptec, Greater China. Prior to Adaptec Wu served as major accounts manager for NAI China and had assignments at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and as assistant president and general manager of ZZ Computer Systems.
“We're pleased to welcome George Wu to the Intransa team. With the advent of content rich media and delivery of our 10GbE Enterprise IP SAN offering, China is becoming an increasingly important and growing market for us,” commented Broomhead. “Many of our largest and most rapidly growing customers have the need to network, consolidate, and have need to access rich media faster and in more locations than ever before. Intransa is in a perfect position to build on this growing need.”
Intransa's earliest Video on Demand (VOD), IP television (IPTV) and video surveillance customers are found in China along with other organizations that employ Intransa StorStac systems for storage consolidation, disk-to-disk backup and recovery and other network storage applications. Intransa has been shipping IP storage solutions around the world since 2003.
“This is an exciting time for Intransa in Greater China. With our expertise in video surveillance, IPTV, VOD and other IP solutions, we have the right products to strengthen our partner program with H3C and others,” said Wu. H3C is an Intransa OEM StorAlliance Partner. “The Intransa StorStac System is ideal for any number of important, fast growing market initiatives here.” Intransa offers 1, 2 and 10GbE IP storage with customers in China, as well as elsewhere in Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas. The first shipment of a PCU100 10GbE StorStac System to China was in May.
Wu is a graduate of the University of Science and Technology of China, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He also holds a Master of Computer Engineering from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he was also the chairman of the Graduate Students Committee.
Previous Greater China country manager Liu Xiang will become the first China-market representative to the Intransa Advisory Board (IAB). The IAB is composed of business, professional and technology leaders worldwide, who help set the direction of the company, define new products and services, and bring their expertise to Intransa's top leadership and planning. With his deep knowledge of the Chinese market, Xiang will continue to be a key member of the Intransa China leadership team in his new IAB role, and will help ensure the ongoing success of Intransa in the region and worldwide.
