Intransa Gives Boost to Virtualization and Consolidation; Announces High Performance, High Scalability Platforms
Standard High and Ultra-High Performance Configurations Ideal for Green IT Initiatives
SAN JOSE, California / STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD, Dallas, Texas — October 15, 2007
Intransa, the global leader of scalable, network-centric IP storage solutions, today announced the general availability of its most capable iSCSI SAN systems - the StorStac Performance family. Certified with Microsoft, VMware and numerous other ISV and IHV offerings, Intransa's StorStac Performance systems are ideal for the rapidly growing virtualization and consolidation markets.
“IT customers are deploying virtualization with solutions such as VMware ESX to improve reliability and availability while lowering their costs,” said Bud Broomhead, CEO of Intransa. “At the same time, they're seeking to lower their energy consumption by moving to greener IT systems.”
The Intransa StorStac Performance family offers not only offers increased performance and scalability over other IP SAN systems but supports up to 1,000Tb of RAID-protected storage that is accessible through 1 to 40GbE of aggregate access. Using standard 1 or 10GbE interfaces, Intransa's StorStac Performance systems are available in standard, high performance and ultra-high performance configurations and are guaranteed to meet any customer need.
“Our StorStac Performance systems are designed to provide outstanding performance while delivering fibre channel-like throughput and reliability, yet at about one-third the cost,” continued Broomhead. “With data center managers seeing an ever-increasing percentage of their budget going to energy consumption the reduced power usage of Intransa systems is attractive to customers.”
As the first and only iSCSI systems to be certified by Microsoft's ESRP program, Intransa's StorStac IP SANs deliver an 11,000 user Exchange 2007 configuration. The configuration provides customers with superior performance and high availability that was only previously available through more expensive and high-power consuming fibre channel (FC) SAN solutions. Intransa systems are also certified for VMware virtualization and consolidation implementations.
Intransa's StorStac Performance SAN systems deploy proven, low energy consuming SATA drive technology. Additionally, StorStac Performance systems are offered in a dense, high capacity format that uses less floor space and reduces heating and cooling needs by up to 70 percent. SATA drives consume about 50 percent of the power of equivalent FC drives per Tb.
As one of the first designers of network IP SANs, Intransa's StorStac Performance systems provide the latest technological innovations including: standard Performance configurations delivering 220 to 880MB/second throughput, with 1GbE interfaces for up to 4GbE aggregate connectivity to compute platforms; high performance configurations offering 240 to 960MB/second throughput with the same interfaces; and, ultra-High performance configurations offering 750 to 3,000MB/second throughput, with 10GbE interfaces for up to 40GbE aggregate input. All three configurations support 4 to 1,000TB or more SATA storage, protected with selectable RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 and offering fully redundant configurations.
StorStac Performance systems are immediately available worldwide through Intransa StorPartner Channel Program member resellers and systems integrators.
