SIA Trains Security Project Experts at Intransa HQ
Security-Grade Video Storage Vendor Hosts High-Profile Security Program
SAN JOSE, California — September 4, 2008
Intransa, the global leader of shared, scalable and simple external IP storage solutions, will host the Security Industry Association's (SIA) Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) program at the company's headquarters in San Jose beginning September 8, 2008.
The goal of CSPM is to certify individuals who have demonstrated proficiency in every aspect of project management as it relates to security systems. “The SIA is the leading proponent of professionalism and standards among manufacturers, security dealers and integrators,” commented Jeff Whitney, vice president of marketing for Intransa. “We are proud to not only be members but to be able to support the organization and its candidates by hosting this important class.”
The CSPM program consists of a self-study course covering five modules that are completed in advance by each participant. The self-study is followed by five days of instructor-led classroom. Major modules include Security Project Management; Estimating Security Projects; Contracts, Codes and Risk Management; Project Financial Management; and Managing the Project Team. CSPM programs are open to security practitioners as well as professionals from manufacturers, integrators and dealers.
“The security industry will benefit greatly from the growing number of CSPM certified practitioners,” said Whitney. “The skills learned in this program are important as new technologies, such as IP, displace the familiar analog systems of the past, bringing both new challenges and many new benefits.”
SIA's Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) designation comes from the physical security industry's only certification program for security project managers, a rapidly growing discipline. It promotes the professional accreditation of project managers involved in the design and installation of security systems.
Intransa's Gary Fort, senior systems engineer, will participate in the certification program. For questions regarding completing future CSPM programs, Fort and Whitney are among sixteen Intransa executives, technical team members and employees attending the ASIS International Atlanta event, September 15-18.
