Intransa Video Storage Rated "Excellent" by IPVS Labs

Most Scalable, Highest Performing, Only Fully Security-Friendly Solution

ATLANTA, Georgia / SAN JOSE, California — September 17, 2008

Intransa, the global leader of shared, scalable and simple external IP storage solutions, announced that the company has achieved an “excellent” rating and is certified and approved by IPVS Labs, the technical division of IPVS Magazine.

IPVS Magazine Labs has ranked the Intransa StorStac System as “excellent” and highly recommended for all video surveillance installations with “superior” ratings for management, “excellent” performance and a “near perfect” rating for both scalability and reliability.

“Companies that have been honored with excellent IPVS Magazine rankings have made a deep-rooted commitment to interoperable solutions for the physical security market,” says Keven Marier, editor in chief of IPVS Magazine. “Probably nothing differentiates a product or solution more than the superior technologies behind it making them suitable for today's needs while pro-actively being ready for tomorrow too.”

IPVS Magazine Labs found Intransa StorStac to be the only one of seven IP storage area networks (SANs) examined to offer a security-friendly graphical user interface management tool, making it much easier to set-up and administer for physical security professionals. The IPVS Magazine Labs recommend Intransa products for several market scenarios including new installations, retro-fits, technology refreshes and remodels.

“With a manufacturers suggested retail price of $1,625TB for a complete 4 terabyte (TB) system, Intransa's StorStac is less expensive than adding fixed, captive storage to a single DVR,” notes Jeff Whitney, vice president of marketing for Intransa. “For that price Intransa brings increased reliability, the highest performance and the most capacity of any storage solution to video surveillance. As configurations grow and prices decrease customers will benefit even further.”

For new installations Intransa StorStac configurations start with as little as 2TB, making StorStac ideal for applications at the edge, recording directly from IP cameras or supporting one or more DVRs and NVRs for 30 days of average retention.

For retrofits, technology refreshes and remodels, Intransa's StorStac storage can support existing infrastructures ranging from analog cameras, DVRs, cabling, and software, while adding support for IP storage, network cameras, access control systems, life safety systems, video analytics, physical security management systems and other applications. Intransa's StorStac protects existing investments by adding IP support without risk. Even NVRs can be added, allowing customers to continue to leverage their DVRs and analog devices while gaining the benefits of IP.

With total capacity of 1.5 petabytes (PB)/1,500TB in a single system, security practitioners have virtually unlimited expandability ranging from a few days through years of retention capacity that can be added as needed, without rewiring. In the competitive analyst section of the IPVS Magazine Labs report, Intransa storage is rated as high performing, offering modular growth from 200 to 3,000 MBs throughput, supporting many devices, including a dozen or thousands of megapixel cameras.

“Intransa's StorAlliance Technology Labs test and certify physical security and IT products for integration with our IP storage products,” said Manqing Liu, director of technical marketing and manager of the Intransa lab facility which has completed certification of more than 100 vendor applications integrated with Intransa IP storage. “It is really gratifying when another independent facility like IPVS Magazine Labs confirms that our products, such as StorStac, are the most scalable, highest performing and only truly security-friendly offering on the market today. We accomplished all of this by strictly adhering to open IP and advanced RAID standards rather than developing proprietary, single-vendor solutions.”
