Intransa's Video Storage Solutions Highly Praised at ASIS International, 2008

Solutions on Display with 11 Partners, Focus Now Turns to Tribalnet9 Show

ATLANTA, Georgia / SAN JOSE, California — September 18, 2008

Intransa, the global leader of shared, scalable and simple external IP storage solutions, was well received at ASIS International, 2008, with nearly a dozen vendors displaying their solutions integrated with Intransa's storage offerings.

Prior to ASIS International, Intransa executive Jeff Whitney presented the introductory module as part of ASIS Physical Security Council and ASIS IT Security Council's “Pre-Seminar Intensive” class, Going IT: The How and Why of Putting Your Security System on to the Corporate Network. Whitney also presented to AMAG Technology's sales team and participated in Hunt Business Intelligence's Security Dreamer Pre-ASIS Un-Conference event at the Hard Rock Café.

During ASIS International, Intransa announced the newest member of its StorStac family, a breakthrough edge recording and single location IP solution. StarterBlock cuts the cost of surveillance for one or more DVRs and for direct recording on the edge. Also announced was the Intransa Sharable Security Platform (ISSP), an open, combined storage and computing platform that can be shared simultaneously by multiple physical security and other software applications without the use of server hardware. Instead, Intransa IP storage systems are used further reducing the cost of video surveillance.

While existing analog surveillance technology and other infrastructure investments can be leveraged with the new StorStac StarterBlock, it brings the many benefits of IP to analog environments without the risk of a rip-and-replace project. Existing cabling, cameras, DVRs, and software can continue to be used to protect investment and allow a gradual migration to NVRs and other IP technology, while increasing reliability, lowering administration requirements and increasing retention capacity of the overall surveillance system.

StarterBlock comes in 2 and 4 terabyte (TB) base systems that can be upgraded to a maximum of 16TB. 2TB provides enough storage for 30 days of recording with one or more DVRs and cameras at average resolution and frame rates. A StarterBlock system is commonly purchased for direct-from-IP-camera recording or to support one to eight DVRs or NVRs and a typical maximum of 64 cameras.

StarterBlock is part of the Intransa StorStac shared, external IP storage family that is designed to grow to 1,500TB in a single system for up to 500,000 cameras with years of retention capacity at maximum resolution and frame rate. This allows security practitioners to start with just 2 or 4TB in a StorStac System and grow performance and retention modularly whenever needed without cost penalty, allowing maximum resolution and retention for a few or thousands of cameras and devices.

The entire Intransa StorStac product line, including StarterBlock, is integrated with physical security and surveillance solutions from AMAG Technology, Inc., Diebold, Inc., Veracity USA, and VideoProtein during the three-day ASIS International. In addition, Cisco Systems (in the ADT booth), Exacq Technologies, JDS Digital Security Systems, Milestone Systems, On-Net Surveillance Systems, Phoenix IVS and VidSys, Inc. displayed their solutions integrated with Intransa IP storage, further demonstrating the market penetration that Intransa is achieving to the benefit of security practitioners.

The benefits of shared, external IP storage are detailed in a whitepaper that was issued prior to ASIS International. 12 Reasons for Shared, External IP Video Storage is available free of charge from the Intransa website, or from Intransa StorPartner Security Integrators worldwide.

In preparation for the public release of the Intransa Sharable Security Platform, Intransa has certified nearly 100 applications for physical security and IT as part of the Intransa StorAlliance. Recent additions to the StorAlliance include Agent VI, Basler Vision, CommendUSA, CoreStreet, Exacq Technologies, Genetec, Grandeye Inc., Imprivata, inFRONT, KABA, N2NSecure, Phoenix IVS, Quantum Secure, RFI and TimeSight Systems. As the first IP storage certification program to be introduced to the physical security industry, Intransa's StorAlliance Lab continues to lead the industry in the number of applications and vendors committed to open IP solutions.

On the last day of ASIS, Intransa revealed that IPVS Magazine Labs had performed an independent review of Intransa StorStac, and ranked it as “excellent”. The report also highly recommended solution for all video surveillance installations in its detailed 10-page study.

The Intransa StorStac was given “superior” ratings for management, “excellent” performance, and a “near perfect” rating for both scalability and reliability. IPVS Magazine Labs also found StorStac to be the only IP storage area network examined to offer a security-friendly graphical user interface management tool, the Intransa Video Storage Administrator (VSA). The VSA makes it much easier for physical security professionals to setup and administer IP storage, without having to become an IT storage or network expert. The IPVS Magazine Lab recommends Intransa products for several market scenarios including New Installations (Greenfield), Retrofits, Technology Refreshes, and Remodels.

The complete IPVS Labs report on Intransa storage is downloadable free of charge from the Intransa website and is also available from Intransa StorPartner Security Integrators worldwide.

Intransa now turns its attention to Tribalnet9, the 9th annual technology conference for the Native American technology industry. The conference runs September 29 - October 2, 2008, at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort & Casino, Scottsdale, Arizona. To pre-schedule a meeting, contact Intransa at or call 866.446.8726.
