BuildingBlock Base Configurations
All BuildingBlock systems are available in Standard and High Availability configurations.
BuildingBlock1
- Great price/performance and scalability for video or IT storage
- 220 to 880MB/second throughput with 1 to 4 Performance Controller Units and up to 8GbE aggregate connectivity
- N+1 failover means that configurations with more than one Performance Controller Unit keep functioning, even in the unlikely event of a controller failure
BuildingBlock2
- Strong price/performance and scalability, with ultimate availability for demanding video or IT storage needs
- 240 to 960MB/second throughput with 1 to 4 Performance Controller Units
- N+1 failover means that configurations with more than one Performance Controller Unit keep functioning, even in the unlikely event of a controller failure
- BuildingBlock2 Performance Controller Units feature extra protection with dual power supplies and fans in each PCU
All BuildingBlock configurations feature:
Capacity
- 4 - 1,500TB capacity of high capacity, low cost, minimal power consuming SATA or highest performance, low capacity SAS drive technology in modular upgrades
Standard and High Availability
- Standard configurations feature single Performance Controller Unit and data path for lowest cost, high performance and can be upgraded up to 4 PCUs
- High Availability configurations feature dual Performance Controller Units and data paths for ultimate uptime, and can be upgraded up to 4 PCUs
- M12 base configurations start with 6 or 12TB and support advanced RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 protection
BuildingBlock M12 configurations feature 2U, 12 SATA or SAS drive Storage Capacity Enclosure modules. - M15 base configurations start with 4, 7.5, 11.25 or 15TB and support advanced RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 protection
BuildingBlock M15 configurations feature 3U, 15 SATA or SAS drive Storage Capacity Enclosure modules.
Both BuildingBlock1 and BuildingBlock2 scale from 4 to 1,500TB of capacity and support high capacity, low cost, minimal power consuming SATA drives and higher performance, low capacity SAS drives.
BuildingBlock1 and BuildingBlock2 M12 base configurations start with 6 or 12TB and support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 advanced data protection. Both are available in either Standard or High Availability configurations, and can support up to four Performance Controller Units for N+1 failover and system throughput.
BuildingBlock1 and BuildingBlock2 M15 base configurations start with 4, 7.5, 11.25 or 15TB and support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 advanced data protection. Both are available in either Standard or High Availability configurations, and can support up to four Performance Controller Units for N+1 failover and system throughput.
All BuildingBlock configurations include an integrated switched backplane and can be modularly scaled to 1,500TB storage capacity with Storage Capacity Enclosures (SCEs) and Storage Expansion Enclosures (SEEs).
